I QUIT IT FOR CANCER

Quit it

Day 12 - Friday 29th May 2020

Day 12
Friday 29th May 2020

Happy Friday!

Today was just another average day & struggled to finish my water ? but I kept preserving even though it has been up & down.

I finished my water by 10.48pm tonight as I was out to Dan’s place for dinner & watching movies. Today I also went shopping for lunch & ingredients for dinner before heading to work again this afternoon.

BUT, I managed to try to watermelon ? in my drink today! It definitely tasted different & I felt different + refreshed.

Hoping for a relaxing & stress-free weekend ?? Hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Sending you all my blessings, love, hugs, smiles, positivity, gratitude & thankfulness ?

Stay warm!

Day 11 - Thursday 28th May 2020

Day 11
Thursday 28th May 2020

Today was just an average day... I struggled to drink 2L water on time.

Unfortunately I didn’t feel up to trying the watermelon in my water. But am trying my best to try this tomorrow!

I drunk my 2L of water by 8.41pm tonight.

I didn’t do much today apart from work this afternoon.

Hoping that tomorrow is a better day!

I want thank those people for encouraging & supporting me as well as generously giving throughout this challenge. I am forever grateful, it means a lot & I couldn’t do it without you all.

I want to also thank those people for following my progress on my page - it is people like you who inspire me to keep going & keep making these posts for you all to read ?

Sending love, positivity, gratitude & thankfulness to you all ?

Day 10 - Wednesday 27th May 2020

Well once again today was just another average day as I feel like I am getting used to this water thing!

I almost finished my water earlier tonight around dinner time until I forgot that I left it downstairs! ?? So I completed my 2L of water by 8.43pm tonight.

Today I went to the shops this morning, got my door handle replaced this afternoon, went to work this afternoon & jumped on a zoom call briefly after work to catch up on some of the things our CanTeen Youth Leadership Team in QLD are doing!

Whilst I was at the shops this morning I sourced out suitable prices on fruits I could use to put in my ‘detox waters’. I was shocked at the prices of strawberries, blackberries & blueberries at the moment!

BUT I managed to get my hands on some watermelon! ? I also researched different watermelon infused/detox water recipes & the benefits of these recipes... I can do just watermelon, watermelon & mint or watermelon, mint & cucumber! We also have a home grown cucumber just picked from our garden & I also need to check if we have mint in our home herb garden or not! > . <

I’m looking forward to showing & telling you all how my watermelon infused/detox water goes tomorrow ?

I hope everyone has had a lovely hump day Wednesday & warm evening.

Once again thank you all for your continuous love, kindness, likes, comments, follow, support, encouragement, positivity & generosity.

I couldn’t do it without you all doing all of the above things ?? Looking forward to what tomorrow brings & how I can update you all ?

Sending you all back my blessings, love, hugs, smiles, positivity, gratitude & thankfulness.

Day 9 - Tuesday 26th May 2020

Another normal cooler day for me today ?

Yes, I am still getting used to the slow change of cooler weather but am loving it! ?

Today I did chores around the house & went to work this afternoon ?

Another no struggle day with my water intake today, completing my 2L of water by 8.09pm this evening.

I have been receiving some comments & messages from some of you to try different things - the frequent suggestion being to try adding fruit &/or herbs/spices into my water (infused).

I have been researching some recipes for different detoxing, what do you guys think? ?

Should I change it up a bit?

Thank you all for your continuous love, kindness, likes, comments, messages, follow, support, encouragement, positivity & generosity.

I couldn’t do it without you all doing all of the above things ?? Looking forward to what tomorrow brings & how I can update you all ?

Sending you all back my blessings, love, hugs, smiles, positivity, gratitude & thankfulness ?

Day 8 - Monday 25th May 2020

One week down! ?
Weekly Monday video update!

“Hey guys, happy Monday! Today’s been one week down! So I haven’t drunk anything but water for just a week now. And last week was definitely challenging & up & down, I couldn’t predict what each day was going to be like but I know I preserved & I got through it. The last few days have been feeling steady for me & feeling a bit easier which is harder for me to update you guys & keep it interesting. But it’s feeling great for myself, I’ve definitely been feeling a lot of change in my body which is great I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it, it’s been a bit harder with the cool weather but apart from those small few things like wanting a soft drink or a nice cup of tea I haven’t been craving anything completely, my perseverance has also shone through that. I just wanted to jump on & thank you guys for all your love, support & generosity as well for those who have given. I really appreciate all of your love, your comments, your messages, your kindness, your support & your generosity throughout this challenge. This is going on up until the 18th June! I can’t do it without you guys supporting me & giving generously through this time. If you have any ideas of how I can keep it interesting & update you guys each day, I’d also love that because I feel like I’m a bit boring posting the same things each so I’m trying to keep it interesting & different. Apart from that I hope everyone had a lovely Monday & welcome back to all the school students. Today I just did some chores around the house & then went to work this afternoon & did some gardening at work. Apart from that I also managed to drink my 2L of water by 8.23pm tonight. That’s pretty much my day I hope you all had a great day & stay warm tonight as the cooler weather comes through & we are coming into winter. And sending my love & great-fullness to you all.”

Day 7 - Sunday 24th May 2020

Day 7
Sunday 24th May 2020

Where did the weekend go?! ?????
My weekends seem to fly lately!

I hope everyone stayed warm last night & enjoyed the sunshine today! ?

My new normal habit has been drinking my 2L of water between 7.30pm to 9pm each night as I push through this challenge, persist & succeed! ? Lately the challenge & new normal has also been adapting to the cooler weather!

I am definitely missing having a nice cup of tea on those cooler days > . <

Today I enjoyed a quiet morning at home as we watched church online, we then enjoyed a lovely & healthy picnic at a local park with Dan’s family followed by some family time with Dan at my sister in laws - Jess’s place this evening.

It was definitely a lovely way to end the weekend, nor did I feel discouraged from seeing tea or soft drink around me ? each day it gets easier!

I really appreciate the support that my family & some of my close family friends have been giving me lately - it has really helped me be able to get through this challenge when they drink water with me or simply just by talking to me & being there for me on my tougher day’s!

I have dropped my donation target to be a bit more realistic with time - it was at $1,500; I have now dropped it $1,000.

I am currently sitting at $733 & just sitting in on 5th place on the CanTeen leaderboard.

Thank you to those who have sponsored me & generously given to this amazing cause, I can’t do it without your support & generosity! ???

I hope everyone stays warm tonight & safe travels to work/school tomorrow! ?

Ps thanks Jess for my awesome toy story alien mug that changes from dark to colour with hot water! I cannot wait to try it out & have a tea in it when I finish this challenge! ?

Day 6 - Saturday 23rd May 2020

Happy Saturday!
Welcome to the weekend! ?

I hope everyone had a lovely Saturday.

My quiet weekend firstly turned out with not much planned because of the weather - overcast & cold!

But today turned out to be a busy day, we went for another trip to Costco this time with my parents Dan, his best mate Chris & his uncle Gerard - went down temptation lane it was hard but once again I was determined to not let into temptation!

Today was an average day as I get used to drinking my 2L water (completed by 8.36pm tonight).

I hope everyone stays warm tonight & tomorrow! ?

Day 5 - Friday 22nd May 2020

First of all... Happy Friday!!! ?

Well what a cold day it was today, definitely a very different day to the others I have experienced so far!

A struggle day in a different way...

I’m sure many of us struggle to drink the amount of water we need in a day with this cool weather?

I struggled drinking just water when all I could think about was a nice warm beverage & a nice soft drink to go with our dinner out...

But like I’ve said before & will continue saying I am persistent & not giving up no matter what!

It took me longer to drink 2L of water because of the cooler weather but I managed to achieve my 2L of water today by 8.50pm.

Today I enjoyed some shopping even though the shops were packed! I went to work this afternoon, followed by a lovely dinner with covid restaurant restrictions with my partner Dan & his best mate Chris at Nandos.

Sending you all warm hugs, keep warm & safe! Hope everyone has a lovely start to their weekend ?

Looking forward to what tomorrow brings & how I can update you all xo

Day 4 - Thursday 21st May 2020

I’m trying to make this update as positive & inspiring as possible but unfortunately I had another struggle day due to not feeling well.

I was supposed to work this afternoon but instead I spent the day in bed having a quiet one resting.

Because of this I struggled to drink my water BUT I managed to persist & not give up!

I managed to drink only water & the 2L I needed by 7.27pm.

The reason I am doing this for this particular cause (CanTeen) which is something so close to my heart along with the support, encouragement, kindness & generosity from my family, friends, family friends, fb friends & Instagram friends is why I keep my promise to persist my way through no matter what day I have ?

Once again thank you all for your continuous love, kindness, likes, comments, follow, support, encouragement, positivity & generosity.

I couldn’t do it without you all doing all of the above things ??

Looking forward to what tomorrow brings & how I can update you all ?

Praying it will be a better & positive day.

Sending you all back my blessings, love, hugs, smiles, positivity, gratitude & thankfulness ?

Day 3 - Wednesday 20th May 2020

You will all be pleased to know that I had the much needed rest I needed to have last night as today I have felt much better than what I did yesterday ?

Today I was able to rest a bit more as I was not rostered on to work. I caught up with my CanTeen counsellor via zoom call. Later in the day Dan & I visited family + went to Costco out near Ipswich!

Tonight I enjoyed a lovely dinner with my family whilst we watched home & away.

Today I achieved my goal of drinking 2L of water by 7.21pm!

Oh & I almost forgot to mention! As of tonight I have raised $693 which also places me into 5th place on the Canteen leaders board!

Once again thank you all for your continuous love, kindness, messages, comments, follow, support, encouragement, positivity & generosity.

I couldn’t do it without you all doing all of the above things ?? Looking forward to what tomorrow brings & how I can update you all ?

Sending you all back my blessings, love, hugs, smiles, positivity, gratitude & thankfulness ?

Day 2 - Tuesday 19th May 2020

As I walk into my second day of this challenge I am starting to realise how up & down - different these days are going to be.

Some will be good & easy whilst others will be not so good & challenging but that’s why I am doing this right, it isn’t supposed to be all easy!

Today I felt different & felt like I struggled a bit.

I didn’t crave any of ‘those’ drinks today but I noticed when going out to brunch with my friends that I wasn’t able to sip on a nice hot beverage, smoothie or juice with them whilst we waited to have a meal.

Because of this & the restrictions of restaurants I felt dizzy & partially faint - I needed to get something into my system ASAP!

I definitely learnt from this today & what I will be doing in the days to come to ensure that I substitute that drink for a light snack or eating meals on time to ensure that I am still on track & feeling as best as I can through-out this challenge.

I’m not quiting or giving up!

I also didn’t get the amount of sleep I needed to last night & am feeling run down today as well as going to work this afternoon.

I’m hoping after a good nights rest tonight I will be back into the spring of things tomorrow + hoping for a better day ?

Once again I want thank those people for encouraging & supporting me as well as generously giving throughout this challenge. I am forever grateful, it means a lot & I couldn’t do it without you all.

I want to also thank those people for following my progress on my page - it is people like you who inspire me to keep going & keep making these posts for you all to read ? I am trying my best to think of different ways to keep it interesting!

Ps I achieved my goal of drinking 2L of water by 8pm tonight.

Sending love, positivity, gratitude & thankfulness to you all ?

Day 1 - Monday 18th May 2020

Wow what a day!

I am so overwhelmed with the love, kindness, encouragement & support from everyone who has sent me messages, comments or generous donations.

I didn’t think I would be this far in my donations already, so thank you from the bottom of my heart!

You will all pleased to know that today was a challenge for myself between a craving & having a Disney/wine night with my friends where I only drank my water!

I managed to drink just over 2L by 9pm - achieving my goal for the day :)

Help me to support young people living with cancer!

Cancer Doesn't Stop - So I Won't Either!

I am Quitting It and giving up sugary drinks such as alcohol, cordial and soft drinks for a month - instead I will be replacing those drinks and aiming to drink 2L of water a day!

I want to ensure young Aussies impacted by cancer still receive the support they need during this difficult and isolating time.

Canteen supports young people living with cancer, whether it is there own diagnosis, or that of a parent or sibling.

I joined Canteen just over a year ago after losing my mother 2 years ago to stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Canteen has helped me deal with my day to day challenges after losing my mother with face to face counseling. I have also been a part of the online Canteen community.

Last year I was given the opportunity to attend various different events (including volunteering for Canteens National Bandana Day) and attend an overnight program in Tasmania! I have met and made so many friends, and this year I am pleased to say that I am now part of the Canteen Youth Leadership team in Brisbane!

Canteen is relying on Canteen Connect the online platform for counseling and peer to peer support during this even more challenging time in a young persons world. Now more than ever they need the support of Canteen.

Please help me help them, by giving whatever you can using the 'Donate' button. The more people that know about Canteen, the greater the impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family.

Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
