I'm shaving my head to raise funds for Canteen in memory of my mum, Kate.
2026 marks 10 years without my beloved mum, Kate. She lost her life to breast cancer in 2016. On what would've been her 65th birthday, January 16th, I am shaving my head to raise funds for Canteen in her memory. I will also be donating my hair to be made into wigs.
Canteen saw me and my siblings through some very difficult times in the aftermath of Mum's death. Whether dealing with their own cancer diagnosis; that of a close member; or the death of a loved one; Canteen is in kids' and teens' corner.
Canteen provides a wide range of free support services to help young people impacted by cancer overcome the specific challenges they're dealing with. This includes social connection events and programs, specialised counselling, 24/7 online support and access to resources and personalised support. I am forever grateful for the impact this support made on my life.
