Moving it with Migraines

What a week!

Or more to the point, what a year!
2020 has brought the world some interesting global challenges.

Working in mental health, I find myself forever recommending and reminding others of self-care practices. However, it seems this week was set to be my own personal "something" that "had to give." With light sensitivity setting in on Wednesday, I could feel it was time to practice what I preach and reign it back in a little (or a lot).  This meant taking a break and trying not to feel guilty for taking time for myself (even if it would mean getting behind on my move it challenge!)

This week my body told me to slow down. 72hrs of migraines meant light yoga stretching was the only moving it I could muster. However, taking that time to rest has re-energised me and inspired me. I'm feeling ready to get back into it! Which is good because I've got some catching up to do!

I'm determined to make this happen and would love your support to motivate me to keep moving! Cancer doesn't stop for anything and I won't stop till I've hit my goal, helping Canteen to support young people with online social and mental health services. <3<3

Monday- salutations to the sun rise

Monday morning is always the hardest to get moving. Add in the dark cold winter vibes and a warm purring cat encouraging you to stay in bed and its near impossible!
Peaking out my blinds at the wind howling past my window, I couldn't quite bring myself to rug up to extent necessary to hit the pavement.

With no one there to hear my feeble attempts to compromise, I commited to yoga in the lounge room instead. In general, I love yoga but Monday morning's existential dread was in full swing and it felt like a chore. I boiled the kettle for a cup of herbal tea.

30 minutes of sun salutations and downward dogs later - I sit rugged up in the courtyard surrounded by my pot plants, sipping my prized cup of tea and watching the sky as darkness gives way to clouds in shades of pink and orange.

I'm not sure exactly when the dread lifted or where the dread went, but suddenly Monday morning seems much more doable.

Cancer Doesn't Stop - I Won't Either!

I am Moving It to ensure young Aussies impacted by cancer still receive the support they need during this difficult and isolating time.

Canteen supports young people living with cancer, whether it is their own diagnosis, or that of a parent or sibling.

Canteen is relying on Canteen Connect the online platform for counseling and peer to peer support during this even more challenging time in a young persons world. Now more than ever they need the support of Canteen.

Please help me help them, by giving whatever you can using the 'Donate' button. The more people that know about Canteen, the greater the impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family.

Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
