2024 Life Cycle for Canteen OnRoad

Happy Australia Day

David and I amped up the training with over 150km covered over the long weekend.
It started with a 40kmride on Friday with friends, who were testing out their newly super-charged tandem. They were awesome to draft behind :D.
Saturday was the 50km loop around the river withe the Life Cycle crew, great fun and a great turnout. Catching up with some cycling mates who we hadn't seen for too long was an added bonus.
And Sunday was the run out to the services and back, a 90 minute, non-stop ride each way. 67km for that one. Turns out David was joking when he suggested the Sunday ride!

Hair Putty or Chamois Cream?

I have two identical travel containers that I take with me on the On-road. One contains chamois cream, the other hair putty. The contents look pretty similar.

I know I could make my life easier by labelling the containers, but I kind of like starting the day with a little bit of risk and uncertainty. Like a cup of coffee, it wakes me up and gets just the right amount of adrenaline in the system.

It also serves to remind me why I take part in Life Cycle; to raise awareness of the great work Canteen do in helping to reduce the stress and uncertainty faced by the young people effected by cancer every day.

My morning 'hair putty or chamois cream" question pales into insignificance alongside the unknowns they face.

That said, if my hair looks greasy, and I'm walking funny, I could be in for a rough day on the bike :D

I'm riding to support young people with cancer.

Hi there,

I’m riding in the 2024 Life Cycle for Canteen OnRoad event this year to support young people when cancer crashes into their world.

Canteen is the game changer. Canteen supports young people living with cancer, whether it is their own diagnosis, or that of a parent or sibling. They help young people cope with cancer in their family, rebuild their foundations and connect with others in the same boat.

Please help me help them, by giving whatever you can using the 'Donate' button. The more people that know about Canteen, the greater the impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family.

Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!
