Meet the Riders

Gary Hanson

I’m looking forward to raising money from cycling for our young people going through cancer. Canteen do an amazing job to help with clinical trials along with treatments and support of their families.

Dale Hough

In 2019 my closest friend went through chemotherapy treatment to survive Hodgkins Lymphoma, all while his mother was battling Leukaemia, and Anna still fights the fight everyday. I ride for them. Canteen children fight everyday, hopefully our little challenge is able to help their bigger challenge also.

Christopher Dudley

I’ve decided that I am going to take on the cycling challenge to both push myself out of my comfort zone and hopefully raise some much needed funds for Canteen. Canteen do a great job in providing support and services to aid younger Australian’s who have been impacted by Cancer and hopefully I can help make a worthy contribution towards supporting them.

Chiara Curtis

I have chosen to participate in the 2022 Metricon x Canteen VIC Cycle as it is a great opportunity to support a cause that is close to my heart. We have all been touched by cancer and this is an amazing privilege to combine my passion for cycling while helping those who provide frontline cancer support.

James Gage

All of us are touched by Cancer. The importance of supporting and caring for the sufferers and their families is very important to me. After supporting a friend who's wife lost the battle with Pancreatic Cancer in just 5 months and another friend being diagnosed in December. I want to do my bit to raise money and support this amazing organisation.

I am absolutely passionate about road cycling. Cancer impacts people at all stages, and in all walks of life. Canteen provides hope for young people and their families who have been affected by this insidious disease. I wanted to take this challenge along with a bunch of great people who want to challenge themselves, raise some awareness and at the same time raise some much-needed funds to support this wonderful organisation.

Kevin Heathfield-Eliott

For me, I can’t think of anything better than being outdoors in beautiful surroundings, doing something that I absolutely love whilst tackling some tough cycling challenges with a fantastic group of people. But best of all is the privilege to be able to able to participate in an event that raises awareness and support for our youth who have far greater life threatening challenges to face. I hope with the support of our community and cycling team we can raise funds for this noteworthy charity – Canteen.

Peter Temopoulos

So many of us have been touched or know someone that has been touched by Cancer. Canteen are an amazing organisation that provide great support to families during their time of need. Long roads often lead to beautiful destinations and no road is too long when your surrounded with good company all working toward a great cause. Please donate generously.

Nicolas Logarzo

The fundraiser is a great opportunity to raise awareness and support for the work Canteen do for young people battling Cancer. I’ve had a close friend succumb to cancer and this ride again allows me to honour their memory whilst also helping raise much needed funds for others in their fight against this terrible disease.

Tiffany Langfelder

Everybody at some stage knows of someone fighting cancer or may be sadly touched by it themselves. It’s a very scary time and families need all the support they can get. Canteen is such a wonderful charity and I feel privileged to again be a part of a fabulous team of people all striving towards the same goal, to raise awareness and much needed funds for such a an incredible cause.

David McKibbin

Unfortunately there are way too many young people affected by cancer each year. The fantastic work that Canteen does to help support these people and their families so important during these hard times. Sitting on a bike seat for 5 days will be challenging but if we can raise as much money as possible to help Canteen continue to do their incredible work, it’s the least I can do.

Justin M

Cancer has affected many people including my father who also lost his primary school aged sister to cancer. This is a new and different challenge for me to help support Canteen and try and make a difference. I look forward to any donations you can make to support Canteen and 23,000 young Australians whose lives have been impacted by cancer.

Sam Gribble

Many years ago my father unexpectedly contracted cancer. He passed away 2 years later whilst my siblings and were teenagers so I have some insight into the need for Canteen’s service to families affected by this insidious disease. Canteen is one of the most professional, well managed charities in Australia. Being able to combine my love of cycling with raising money for this worthwhile cause is something I am looking forward to.

Robert Officer

As a child, losing my Mum to cancer – and now having kids of my own - I am proud to support Canteen and the amazing work they do. Looking forward to taking on the challenge.

Kylie Jones

My inspiration comes from being a 3-times breast cancer survivor and knowing that it takes a community of support to see someone through a cancer diagnosis. Canteen do an amazing job for our young people and their families battling this terrible disease.

Matt Dickson

This is a great opportunity for me to combine two of my passions, cycling and health. I’m passionate about cycling for health, fitness, social and safety. Plus I’m passionate about health and working to reduce the impact that cancer has on our lives, both family and friends - Canteen do an amazing job for young people and their families.

Chris Brown

I’m looking forward to being part of this amazing event to help raise important funds for such a worthy cause. Cancer touches so many people and I’m inspired by the opportunity to support our younger community members and their families as they battle this awful disease.

Phillip Strangio

To put our minds and bodies through what we think is 5 days of hell is nothing compared to what these kids and their families endure daily. Kids have the right to be kids and it inspires me knowing that Canteen, my fellow colleagues and I are making a difference through this ride.

Adam Selvay

Too many families and young people are impacted by cancer and face immense challenges finding their way through this. Canteen does great job providing support to 12-25 year-olds dealing with their own diagnosis, a close family member’s cancer or the death of a loved one.To support Canteen I’m participating in the 2022 Metricon Charity Ride challenge. Aiming to raise much needed funds for Canteen and aid their ongoing support for the mental health and wellbeing of young people experiencing cancer. A donation of any denomination to this worthy cause is greatly appreciated.

Rod Binedell

Cancer touches so many people, but when it touches our youngest it has such a profound effect. Canteen are tremendous in their efforts to assist those affected by the Big C and I encourage you to support my riding as a way of espousing this charity.

Michael Woodruff

Canteen provides amazing support for young people and their families. This ride is a chance for me to raise some valuable funds for cancer research and support, while remembering some of my own family members who have been impacted by cancer over the years.

Jason Lewis

Cancer has touched our family in a big way. Our mum has battled and won on numerous occasions. Raising money and awareness for cancer will be a life long mission! I can’t wait to challenge myself to raise money for CanTeen.

Ryan Lewis

Sadly, like many families ours has experienced loved ones going through the cancer battle. Now having two beautiful young kids of my own and being a road bike enthusiast – joining the team on this challenge to raise funds for Canteen was simple. I hope we can raise a significant amount of funds for this terrific cause.

Tony Trevisan

As a father of two, you really start to reflect on the challenges some children face when confronted by this terrible disease. So if jumping on a bike raises awareness for Canteen and the amazing work they are doing, then I hope my involvement can make a small difference.
