LifeCycle OffRoad is an opportunity to join a fun bike ride (for great value) to fundraise for Canteen and support young people living with cancer

Our goal

About Canteen

We get it. Just when life should be full of possibilities, cancer crashes into a young person’s world and shatters everything. Cancer pushes them back in to the nest, makes them grow up too fast and weighs them down with worries they’re not supposed to have yet.

Canteen is the game changer. We help young people cope with cancer in their family. Through Canteen, they learn to explore and deal with their feelings about cancerconnect with other young people in the same boat and if they’ve been diagnosed themselves, we also provide specialist, youth-specific treatment teams.

By feeling understood and supported, young people develop resilience and can rebuild the foundations that crumbled beneath them when cancer turned their life upside down. That’s how Canteen is the difference.

Join us today to help raise vital funds for young people dealing with cancer.

The route

Collie has a rich history of road cycling. In past decades it has been referred to as the centre of cycling in Western Australia. Now Collie’s huge potential for mountain bike riding is being developed with Collie one of the few WA destinations that has all the amenities visitors could want. Plus, it's located in the middle of the forest – ideal for mountain bike trails.

This year we will explore the trails that Collie and Wellington National Park have to offer (program subject to change).

Riders under 16

The OffRoad ride is intended for people with mountain bike riding skills and the strength and endurance to spend hours in the saddle, riding long distances. We will under specific circumstances accept riders under 16. These include that:

  1. Approval to register the rider (aged under 16) must be sought by the parent PRIOR to registration
  2. The parent or parents must vouch for their child's skills, strengths and endurance to participate alongside adults
  3. The parent must be prepared to ride alongside their child or children during the event
  4. The parent understands the event is a fundraising event
  5. A junior rider (under 16) will pay a nomination fee of $100

Rider responsibilities

All riders ride at their own risk and subject to completion of online registration including Ride Disclaimer & Consent (waiver), personal and medical details.

Riders are advised to obtain their own sickness and accident insurance in case of sickness, accident or injury en-route to/from or during the event. School students are advised that their school’s insurance may provide '24 hour a day, seven days a week' cover at a nominal cost. The organisers will also endeavour to meet any identified dietary requirements.

Reasonable levels of fitness and skill are required to complete the ride comfortably. Nominees are responsible for their own state of health. The organisers of this event are not medically trained and have no specific ability or skills to professionally assess the health or physical ability of entrants. We recommend that nominees who do not engage in regular and strenuous physical activity seek the advice of their doctor before undertaking this ride.

The organisers reserve the right to make any changes in the interests of safety.

Before, during and after, the event photos of participants may be taken for promotional, media or record purposes. Unless accompanied by a letter specifically stating otherwise (and providing sufficient information to identify the participant) this nomination acts as permission for photos to be taken and used as indicated.

The onus is on each rider to have their bicycle safety checked AND in safe working order for the start of the ride.
