Welcome to Courage for CanTeen

Courage for CanTeen is a full day skydiving adventure on Sunday 22 March 2020, raising funds and awareness for CanTeen.

Twenty like-minded individuals with a strong sense of community are aiming to raise a combined $80,000 to support young people impacted by cancer.

If reached, the funds raised will help 80 young people in Victoria attend five recreation days during the year, where they can get a much-needed break from the daily pressures of living with cancer, plus attend a weekend program that helps young people to develop new skills to cope with cancer and connect with others going through a similar experience.

Show your support and watch the courageous participants take the 15,000 ft. leap onto the sands of St Kilda Beach from 9am onwards. And don’t forget to join us at the Beachcomber Cafe and Restaurant to celebrate with the participants and enjoy the festivities! We’ll see you there!

Arnya's story

“I joined CanTeen eight years ago, after finishing treatment for a brain tumour. I was nervous and shy but was welcomed into a supportive community that helped me meet new people and share experiences. Since joining CanTeen, I have learned to become comfortable with what I’ve been through and have been inspired to achieve more than I ever thought possible.

I am grateful to CanTeen for the amazing opportunities and support they have provided to me.”

About CanTeen

15 young people in Victoria aged 12-25 are faced with the challenge of cancer each day, whether it's their own, or a close family member's diagnosis.

We get it. Just when life should be full of possibilities, cancer crashes into a young person’s world and shatters everything. Cancer makes them grow up too fast and weighs them down with worries they’re not supposed to have yet.

CanTeen is the game changer. We help young people cope with cancer in their family. Through CanTeen, they learn to explore and deal with their feelings about cancer, connect with other young people in the same boat and if they’ve been diagnosed themselves, we also provide specialist, youth-specific treatment teams.

By feeling understood and supported, young people develop resilience and can build the foundations that crumbled beneath them when cancer turned their life upside down. That’s how CanTeen is the difference.

CanTeen works by having young people at the centre of everything we do. Combined with our leading-edge research into the emotional and social impacts of cancer, it ensures that we truly understand how cancer is different in a young person’s world.
